Introduction
We have created the walking trail to commemorate Henry David Thoreau, the author of Walden; or, Life in the Woods, recognized as the first ecological writing, and the world-renowned naturist philosopher who first used the term of ‘ecology’.
Distance
1.3Km
Duration
20mins
Information
‘Henry David Thoreau Trail’ is a 1.3km long trail around Yonghwasil Pond with eight themes related to the philosopher and his life. In the trail, a memorial (a replica of his cabin at Walden Pond) and some information plates with his famous saying were placed to help visitors understand his simple living in nature and philosophy. Also, visitors can observe various plants walking on the trail along Yonghwasil Pond and it will bring them comfort and joy from nature.
