Characteristic
Temperate Biome The Temperate Biome presents a reconstruction of the nature and animal habitats of the Korean peninsula, along with its climate characteristic of four distinct seasons, and the biodiversity of the ecosystem. In particular, with the basalt-flagged floor and the Gotjawal terrain and ponds, the hall evokes the atmosphere of Jeju Island known as Korea’s most famous temperate forest. The Temperate Biome comprises a subtropical forest, an outdoor valley area, and a temperate forest in the mountainous area. Each component displays thematically selected species. Its 12 animal sections and 14 aquarium tanks show 9 amphibian and reptile species and 40 fish species, including the Jeju salamander and solenoglyph. The biome also showcases over 200 plant species such as the blue Japanese oak. In the outdoor valley and mountainous areas of the Temperate Biome, birds of prey and otter habitats were created so that visitors can see otters and various raptors such as golden eagles, and buteo.
