About endangered wildlife species

Endangered wildlife species are designated and protected by the Ministry of Environment under the Wildlife Protection and Management Act in order to effectively protect wildlife.

Endangered wildlife refers to the wildlife that is facing the extinction in a near future as its number has plummeted or is too few due to natural or artificial threatening factors. They are legally protected and controlled and categorized in class I and class II.
  • Endangered Wildlife Class I

    Designated: 60 species

    Wildlife that is facing a crisis of extinction for the drastic decrease in population due to the natural or artificial threatening factors, designated by the order of the Ministry of Environment after consultation with ministers of related central administrative institutions.

  • Endangered Wildlife Class II

    Designated: 207 species

    Wildlife that can face a crisis of extinction in the near future if the current threatening factors are not removed, for it is suffering the drastic decrease in population due to the natural or artificial threatening factors, designated by the order of the Ministry of Environment after consultation with ministers of related central administrative institutions.
