NIE creates a small versionof the earth.

Restoration of the ecosystem and rich biodiversity

National Institute of Ecology (NIE) was established on October 28, 2013, in Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, as a government-affiliated institute under the Ministry of Environment, to provide all-around ecology related services including research, conservation, education, and exhibition.

Now together with the Research Center for Endangered Species located in Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, NIE leads t he ecological research by carrying out a wide range of investigations, analysis, and assessments; provides support to establish national policies by engaging in various activities for conserving biodiversity and natural ecosystems, and managing wildlife.

NIE also operates specialized facilities for exhibitions and education aiming to spread ecological culture through the development of expert training and education programs, eco-tourism projects, and book publication.

Moreover, NIE realizes the social value and fulfills its social responsibility for mutual growth with the local communities by contributing to the regional economy from active involvement in such as 'Eco-friendly welfare tourism programs for the underprivileged', 'Traditional market revitalization project', and 'Tourism belt development project in the West coast zone'.

NIE researches the future where nature and people go together.
