12 국가장기생태연구 의 첫 번째와 두 번째 손가락에 손톱을 가지고 있으며, 곤충을 잡아먹는 식충성이고, 비행능 력과 초음파 탐지능력을 지녔다. 현재까지 발견된 화석의 후손들은 대부분 현존하는 박쥐들이지만, 화석들 중 이카로닉테리 스 Icaronycteris , 아케오닉테리스 Archaeonycteris , 하씨아닉테리스 Hassianycteris , 팔레 오키롭테릭스 Paleochiropteryx 등은 현재 후손이 없기 때문에 멸종한 것이라고 여겨진다. 형태분석은 이들 멸종한 박쥐들이 큰박쥐아목보다는 작은박쥐아목에 더 가깝다는 것을 드러 내었다 그림1-2 Koopman, 1993; Simmons and Geisler, 1998 현존하는 큰박쥐아목과 작은박쥐아목의 혈통관계에 대해 1970년대까지 오랫동안 지...
